Young Women Leaders Network

Young Women Leaders Network is an initiative of Punjab Commission on Status of Women under the project “Generating Data to Advance Women’s Social and Economic Wellbeing in Pakistan”. Young female students from public colleges across Punjab have been invited to a three-day training in Lahore. The training is focused on empowering the female youth on social and economic challenges that they face in the society through interactive sessions on effective communication skills, leadership skills and gender issues. The opportunity is not only a source of nurturing young minds for future leadership roles but will also expose them to interact with eminent academia and experts working in the field of women development. The Young Women Leaders have committed to design and implement social action plans in their respective communities and colleges on various issues pertaining to women. And will represent PCSW as Agents of Change in their colleges. As we at PCSW believes in Encouragement, Engagement and Empowerment.

Young Women Leadership Training: Day 1
The opening ceremony of Young Women Leader’s Network was held in Alhamra Arts Council, on March 5 th 2018. Minister for Women Development, Ms. Hameeda Wahiduddin graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Ice-breaking session was conducted in PCSW office by Amina Ali, Advocacy and Communication officer PCSW and Maham Javaid, Program Assistant PCSW. IT Manager PCSW, Ayesha Jattala conducted a session on basic concepts of Information and communication Technologies. An interactive session was held on Women Rights in Pakistan by Zainab Jaffri, Project Manager PCSW. The session covered all the laws related to women in constitution of Pakistan. All the sessions were well received by the trainees.
Young Women Leadership Training: Day 2
Various Training sessions on Basic concepts of Gender, communication and leadership skills took place in QAED. The day was concluded with a plenary discussion on Women Struggles in Political participation and claiming their right to vote. Chairperson PCSW, Fauzia Viqar, Ume Laila and Mumtaz Mughal from Aurat Foundation participated in the discussion.
Young Women Leadership Training: Day 3
Third day opened with a detailed session on Women on Social Media and Cyber harassment laws by representatives of Digital Rights Foundation. Following that a session on Punjab youth Policy was conducted by Nauman Ali Chaudary. The training closed with a certificate distribution ceremony among the attendees. Chairperson PCSW, Ms. Fauzia Viqar presented shields of appreciation to Ms. Saira Khan from British Council and Mr. Zeeshan Zafar received the shields on behalf of Bargad Organization.
